B.
COMPENSATION
All unit employees in the classification of Police Sergeant, including employees
assigned by the Chief of Police as an Acting Sergeant, shall be paid a supervisor
premium of three percent (3%) of their base rate plus POST.
Pursuant to the California Code of Regulations (CCR) Sections 571 and 571.1,
Supervisor Premium Pay shall be reported to CalPERS as compensation
earnable or pensionable compensation, respectively, to the extent permitted by
law.
XV.
EDUCATIONAL PAY
A.
PURPOSE
This pay is to motivate employees and recognize the achievement of employees
who have obtained higher education degrees, which enhance career
development, increase professional standards of the department and increase
the level of service to the community.
B.
COMPENSATION
Unit employees who possess a college degree from a college or university
accredited by an organization recognized by the United States Department of
Education or the Council for Higher Education shall be eligible for the following
compensation:

All compensation for Education Pay shall be awarded only for the highest level of
degree achieved – compensation is not cumulative.
Unit employees must provide proof of accredited degrees to the City to be
eligible for the Education Pay, which shall be effective at the beginning of the pay
period that includes the date that proof of eligibility was submitted.
Pursuant to CCR Section 571 and 571.1, Educational Pay shall be reported to
CalPERS as compensation earnable or pensionable compensation, respectively,
as Educational Pay, to the extent permitted by law.
